We must support an all-of-the-above energy approach to lower prices, create new American jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen our national security.

With rising gas prices, achieving energy independence is crucial from both an economic and national security standpoint.

I believe that we must support an all-of-the-above energy approach to lower prices, create new American jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and strengthen our national security.

This approach includes increasing domestic exploration and energy production, developing alternative energy sources, and encouraging energy conservation efforts. And as good stewards of our environment, I believe we must ensure that any solutions we employ are done with respect for our people, our air, our water, and our land.

I am proud to be a co-sponsor of the “Virginia Access to Energy Act,” which allows for the exploration off of Virginia’s Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) to help increase our domestic oil and natural gas supply. And I was proud to co-sponsor and support H.R. 910, the Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011, which passed the House and permanently prohibits the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing a cap-and-trade regulatory agenda under the Clean Air Act and implementing a backdoor national energy tax that will raise gas prices for families and small businesses and destroy jobs.

Four pieces of legislation have now passed the House that would expand domestic energy production and await action in the Senate.

The House has passed 5 bills to move America toward energy independence, create new American jobs, and strengthen our national security that await action in the Senate. Read about H.R. 910, H.R. 1229, H.R. 1230, H.R. 2021 HERE.
