Investing in South Florida

The following programs represent the most urgent funding needs of our community, and will improve safety, education, health care, and infrastructure in South Florida. Because Florida pays more in federal taxes than it recieves from Washington, it is vitally important that we bring that money back to invest in our community, especially as Florida state and local governments face tighter and tighter budgets. Having served in the Florida Senate before coming to Washington, I understand that without these federal dollars to help bridge the budgetary shortfalls, local governments, colleges and universities, law enforcement agencies and community groups would have to cut back on vitally services.

Please find below the requests my office has submitted to the House Appropriations Committee. These are only requests and do not represent actual program funding or federal funding allotted for the programs. Congress will now begin consideration of the requests submitted and make a final decision later this year on which projects to fund and at what levels. I will keep this page updated with the latest information about my efforts to put our tax dollars to work in South Florida.
