GOP Voting Record Reveals Support of Big Banks, Insurance Companies, Big Oil - Not the American People

Democrats are working on behalf of middle-class families, while Congressional Republicans are standing in the way of economic progress and in support of the special interests - Wall Street banks, insurance companies, and Big Oil.

The Republican voting record clearly reflects a contract with special interests over the interests of the American people.  

News reports indicate Congressional Republicans are at odds over how to put together a new 'Contract with America,' a legislative agenda Newt Gingrich led in the 1990s.  While that agenda was largely unsuccessful -- the current Congressional Republican agenda is clear: a Contract with the Special Interests.  Take a look at the record.

• NO on Wall Street reform legislation that would help prevent a financial crisis from ever happening again that has cost jobs and wiped out the savings of millions of millions of Americans, reform executive pay, end taxpayer-funded bailouts, protect consumers from predatory lending and life savings from unnecessary risks and hold the big banks and financial firms accountable to American taxpayers.
• NO on health insurance reform legislation that would benefit American workers, their families and small businesses - ensuring affordability for the middle class and seniors, accessibility for all Americans, and accountability for the insurance industry.
• NO on tax-breaks for the middle-class and small businesses that would protect millions of American workers and their families, spur small business growth, provide relief for families with children, strengthen the housing market, and create incentives for retirement savings.
• NO on student loan reform that would make federal loans more affordable for borrowers to repay, expand aid for college students, and increase investments in the Pell Grant program, Historically Black Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions.
• NO on job creation initiatives, such as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to strengthen our economy; create and save 3.5 million jobs; give a tax cut to small business and 95 percent of American workers; begin to rebuild America's roads, bridges, mass transit, and make a historic commitment to education, clean energy, and science and technology.
• NO on clean energy legislation that would create millions of  clean energy jobs; promote all forms of American clean energy; strengthen our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil; keep America number one by making our country a world leader in new energy technologies, and reduce dangerous carbon pollution.
