I have some suggestions geared towards helping the country recover from incompetent leadership and the wasteful spending of fools. 1. The US has oil on Federal lands. Hire an oil company to drill and market that oil and use 50% of the proceeds from sales to pay down the national debt. It can be done! 2. Address ALL the American people and persuade them to your point of view, then reveal to them how incompetent their elected officials are and what they have been doing. Make it known to them that these people should be removed for the good of the entire country. 3. With the exception of the departments listed here, the government should be shut down and those employees furloughed and helped to find new employment in the economy. Keep these agencies operating: Dept.of Defense, CIA, Social Security Administration, FBI, Congress kept open with a skeleton crew, all elected officials put on leave with partial benefits and 3/4 salary unless an emergency or in time of war. Close the White House permanently.

It has been stated that before the 12/12/12 concert began they had already collected $30 million, they are still counting. With this money & the monies already collected NJ NY CT should be reducing the dollar amount they want FEMA to pay out

    • 4th round of quantitative easing announced. I.E. Fourth time US citizens are being subject to inflation (hidden tax on everything), a reduction in the quality of life, enslavement by the government. All to protect bankers who can't make good choices. Because bankers are more important citizens than ...well.... everyone else. END THE FED!!!!!

    • The field of psychiatry, in the new DSM-5, is listing most human emotions as contributing to General Anxiety Disorder (things like excitement, or even 'anxiety of talking to psychiatrist' would be considered a mental disorder. This is most likely a way to boost pharma sales, and take our guns away (given the administrations/democrats push to take guns away from veterans who attend counseling, and from any citizen who shows 'irritation'). The field of psychiatry has officially gone insane, and must be stopped from causing harm. We need to stop the rampant drugging out kids for sake of the profits of the pharma companies and because government school employees can't handle creative, bouncy, excitable, immaginative energetic kids, and we need to declare (somehow, not sure how it works) their new DSM-5 as a destructive device.

  3. Christmas has come early for the soldiers and their families at Ft. Riley. The Department of Defense and the Geary County School District have granted funding for the construction of a new middle school. Groundbreaking of the school that will accommodate 700 sixth through eighth graders is expected to begin in late January with doors opening in 2014.

During my visits to Ft. Riley over the past two years, it was clear that the Junction City community has worked hard to accommodate the growth in Ft. Riley’s population. USD 475 can be proud that it continues to make certain that the needs of those who serve our country are met, and their kids have access to quality schools and other educational resources.
  4. Congratulations to the Fall 2012 graduates of Kansas State University. Our family is at Bramlage Coliseum for the graduation of Alex's boyfriend, Cole Grieves. We wish graduates from all our colleges and universities a great future.

  5. This weekend, Jewish people in Kansas and around the world will begin the eight day celebration of Hanukkah. I wish my Jewish friends a very happy Hanukkah and beginning of the holiday season.
  6. Today marks the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which launched the United States into World War II. Although many years have passed since that tragic day, the values and resilient American spirit that took on immense challenges during World War II still lives on. We learned many lessons from Pearl Harbor regarding military battle, protecting America from adversaries across the globe, and most importantly, to defend against those who do evil by coming together as a Nation to overcome the hardest of times as a people united. We must never forget the sacrifices that were made at Pearl Harbor and thereafter in World War II to protect and defend our great country.
  7. Today I met with Sgt. Jeff Chafin, a Kansan who has struggled to regain custody of his daughter, Eris, after his estranged wife was deported and won a federal court decision allowing her to take Eris with her. For the past 2 years, Jeff has been fighting to return his daughter to the United States so he can appeal the court decision and be allowed the right to fight for his daughter in the U.S. judicial system. I am hopeful the Justices will provide a decision that resolves this case, provides clarity for future international custody cases, and creates an amicable resolution for Eris.

  8. Last night, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed my resolution calling on Cuba to immediately and unconditionally release American Alan Gross. Our message to Cuba is loud and clear: it is past time for Alan Gross to come home. The path to improved America-Cuba relations has always been difficult, but it is that much more difficult and unlikely until Cuba returns Alan to his family.

Yesterday I held a press conference with Judy Gross, the wife of Alan Gross, to discuss the resolution.

  10. Congratulations to McConnell Air Force Base for being recognized as one of only two finalists for the 2012 Commander-in-Chief's Installation Excellence Award. Our men and women in uniform, family members and community supporters can take great pride in the culture of success they have created--on and off base. This well-deserved honor confirms the special role McConnell plays in securing our nation's defense while providing our military members and their loved ones the support they deserve.
  11. This weekend I am back in Kansas visiting with Kansans and listening to their concerns. Thanks to the Russell Chamber for hosting my Listening Tour stop in Russell this morning at the Dream Theatre, which was open to the public. And thanks to the 60 people who attended and asked questions about topics ranging from healthcare and the UN Arms Trade Treaty to the Farm Bill and regulations. The issues I focus on in Washington are largely based on the conversations I have with Kansans during these Listening Tour stops.

  12. With Election Day behind us, Congress has returned to session and much work remains to be done. I spent this week in Washington working on the Defense Authorization Bill as well as working to avoid the fiscal cliff. I agree with Kansans that it is past time for Congress and the President to work together, set the game of politics aside, and make certain the country remains strong for generations t...

  13. Today’s vote in the U.N. General Assembly to change the status of the Palestinian Authority is a further blow to the peace process. Peace cannot be made by votes in the U.N.; it can only be achieved by the Palestinians sitting down and negotiating directly with Israel as called for in previous agreements. If the Palestinians wish to establish a sovereign state, they must first recognize Israel as a Jewish state and accept Israel’s historical connection to the land.
  14. For nearly three years, the Cuban government has imprisoned Alan Gross, an American citizen. Last night I spoke on the Senate Floor about Alan's story and pressed the Cuba to release him.
  15. Before heading back to Washington, DC this morning, I stopped by Shawnee Community Services food pantry to visit with staff and volunteers about the good work they do in providing food, clothing, shoes and cash assistance to those in need. ...
This year, they celebrate 30 years in service to their community. The pantry was founded by Evelyn Van Kemseke, who remains an active volunteer.

Thank you to Secretary of Revenue Nick Jordan who is also a member the organization's board for joining me this morning and to Evelyn Van Kemseke, Executive Director Sylvia Terry, Volunteer Coordinator Marlisa Kemseke for inviting me to visit.

  17. This weekend as you kick off the holiday shopping season, please keep in mind that tomorrow is Small Business Saturday – a day dedicated to shopping at small businesses to help fuel the local economy. These businesses do a lot to strengthen our communities and employ more than half of Americans. Supporting your local Main Street businesses on Small Business Saturday, and throughout the year, is a great way to say thank you to the business owners and employees who keep our communities strong.
