Homeland Security

The attacks of September 11, 2001 changed the thinking of how we protect our country. I supported the Patriot Act, because we need to give our law enforcement officials the tools they need to fight the war on terror and prevent another large-scale attack, while also protecting our constitutional rights. I also believe we need a Department of Homeland Security that can create a stronger, more streamlined, yet accountable program of federal financial assistance to state and local governments and first responders who are responsible for protecting our nation.
