U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), a member of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement today regarding the recent attacks on diplomatic facilities in Benghazi and Cairo, including the violence that killed J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. ambassador to Libya:

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Ambassador Stevens and the other brave American diplomats who were murdered during this heinous attack in Benghazi. These Americans were bravely working to assist with Libya’s transition to democracy, and the Libyan government needs to bring those responsible for their tragic deaths to justice. As we work to ensure that other American personnel are safe around the world, both the Libyan and Egyptian governments must condemn these senseless attacks and put a stop to this violence immediately.” – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.)
