Quigley Speaks Out Against the "Let Women Die Act" PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 October 2011 16:59

"Madam Speaker, earlier this year we learned what opponents of choice really think of women when they attempted to redefine rape in H.R. 3 -- when they claimed to be fiscal watchdogs, and then voted to repeal funding for family planning and Planned Parenthood, which saves the public 4 dollars for every 1 dollar invested.

And now they are pushing H.R. 358, the falsely named “Protect Life Act,” which rather than protecting life, would actually allow hospitals to refuse life-saving treatment to women on religious or moral grounds.

This harmful bill will also effectively ban comprehensive insurance coverage, which includes abortion care, even if a woman pays with her own, private dollars.

H.R. 358, like every extremist, anti-choice measure before it reveals what choice opponents really think of women.

Here’s what I think of women: I think they should be able make their own life choices about their own bodies, and I think we should vote down this bill and every other destructive measure being pushed by those who think so little of our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters."
