  1. "For the last decade, Americans have been getting $5 worth of government and only charged $3," he said. "Well, we're not getting it at a discount. We're just passing on that discount to successive generations. My goal is to cut spending — t...
o honestly deal with the debt, so that I can pass on freedom and opportunity to my grandchildren." http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2012/dec/09/mississippi-representative-nunnelee-wont-change/

  2. The problem of overspending did not start four years ago, but it has gotten much worse. We have to change course. Until the President and his party decide to face reality and get serious about cutting spending we will not make progress towards an agreement. Spending is pushing us off the fiscal cliff. http://ow.ly/fVbmV
  3. It has been 71 years since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Brave Americans lost their lives that day and many thereafter in defense of this great nation. Let us remember their sacrifice.

  4. If there is one thing to understand about the issues surrounding the fiscal cliff, it is this: the problem is spending.

    Here are some facts:

In 2008, total federal spending was around $2.9 trillion. This year: $3.7 trillion.

Spending as a percentage of the size of the economy:

    President Clinton: 19.8%
    President Bush: 19.6%
President Obama: 24.4%, highest since World War II
  5. If you use twitter, I encourage you to join President Obama’s twitter town hall at 1 pm central to ask him questions about the fiscal cliff using #My2k. I’m going to ask: @BarackObama We are $16 trillion in debt and adding $1 trillion per year. When are you going to get serious about spending cuts? #My2k and @BarackObama does the federal government spend: a) too much, b) too little, or c) just the right amount? #My2k
  6. House Republicans are the last line of defense against an unrestrained liberal agenda of higher taxes, more spending, and more debt. As the fiscal cliff approaches, we will stand firm on our principles and fight for the best possible solution for you. http://ow.ly/fH1qR
  7. Divided government means finding common ground to solve the big problems facing America. However, the President seems to think the definition of common ground is Republicans abandoning our principles and going along with whatever he wants. This will not happen.
  8. Really enjoyed visiting with George Will on Tuesday night.

  9. Good luck to French Camp, Eupora, and South Panola this Friday in the MHSAA championship games! You can also vote for each of them to receive $1,000 from Blue Cross Blue Shield for their physical education programs. http://ow.ly/fF0wF
  10. I am thankful for family, friends, and the privilege of living in the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
  11. This week I signed two letters to President Obama in regards to the Benghazi terrorist attacks. The first letter, written by Congressman Steve Pearce, demands documents related to the administration’s handling of the attack. They have done little to provide the American people with the answers they deserve and it is time to come clean. The second letter, written by Congressman Jeff Duncan, opposes Ambassador Susan Rice being nominated to succeed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. In addition to pushing left wing causes at the U.N., her actions in the wake of the Benghazi situation are extremely troubling and should disqualify her from consideration for a promotion.
  12. We stand with our ally Israel as they defend themselves from terrorist attacks by Hamas and other militant groups.
  13. A combination of massive tax increases and automatic spending cuts, known as sequestration, are due to hit simultaneously at the end of the year. Our economy is still struggling and raising taxes at a time like this would devastate the recovery. In fact, experts across the board are telling us that “going off the fiscal cliff” would push the economy back into a recession.
  14. Congratulations to North Mississippi Health Services for receiving the 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. the nation’s highest Presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement, and visionary leadership. http://ow.ly/fjLP7
