WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) today released the following statement after the release of nationwide unemployment numbers:

“The out-of-control spending in Washington has devastating impacts on all economic sectors. The increasing unemployment rate is a clear sign the tax, borrow and spend policies are not working, but the Senate Majority continues returning to these failed ideas.

“It’s been 800 days since the Senate Majority has proposed a budget and this irresponsibility to govern has sunk us deeper in debt. During this time we’ve spent $7.3 trillion and added $3.2 trillion to the gross federal debt. This is unsustainable and unacceptable.

“We need a fiscally responsible budget that cuts our spending and puts mechanisms in place that force Washington to spend within its means. We need to show we’re on the road to sound fiscal management and I am committed to providing that.”
