Congressman Sarbanes recognizes the need to have transportation and infrastructure in place to support the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) growth around Fort Meade. In the next two to four years, several agencies will be relocating to Fort Meade as part of BRAC. The large increase in employment and development will contribute to increased traffic volume in the area. There is a strong need to improve the roads leading to Fort Meade as well as on the base. Congressman Sarbanes forwarded the following transportation requests for Fort George G. Meade to the House Committee on Armed Services for consideration during the fiscal year 2011 Defense Authorization legislation. |
