Remembering Paul and Sheila Wellstone
As we mark the 10th anniversary of the tragic deaths of Paul and Sheila Wellstone, I want to take a moment to reflect on their enormous legacy, and the incredible impact they had on me and my wife Franni. Paul believed that we all do better when we all do better, and the Wellstones' legacy serves as a constant reminder of what public service is all about: helping others, and giving a voice to those who otherwise might go unheard. Paul was a passionate and gifted legislator, and he accomplished a great deal as a senator. They were a remarkable team indeed. Paul and Sheila dedicated themselves to bettering the lives of all Minnesotans, and did it with grace and passion and humor and humility. And while Franni and I miss them terribly, I can say with certainty that knowing them made me a better senator, and a better person.
