Transportation
The 21st century economy requires investment in modern transportation and infrastructure systems that are integrated and intelligent and that increase mobility for people and commerce. Our roads, bridges, and public transit are in desperate need of repairs and upgrades, and there are shovel-ready projects in Minnesota that will put people back to work while retooling our economy for this new century.
As we upgrade our nation’s infrastructure, we have to incorporate technology and smart local and regional planning. Mass transit—such as high-speed rail, light rail, and bus rapid transit systems—will improve safety, alleviate congestion, increase mobility, and improve air quality in Minnesota, all while ensuring U.S. competitiveness and creating much-needed construction jobs. As Congress considers comprehensive transportation overhaul, I will fight to make sure that we make robust investments in modernizing our transportation infrastructure.
