Binders Full of Women?

Dear Friends,
Unlike what Mitt Romney alluded to in the Presidential Debate on Tuesday, October 16, one does not have to go out of their way to find highly qualified, talented, and driven women in the work force. Despite this, working women still only get paid 77 cents on the dollar when compared to men. It is imperative that we work to close the wage gap now because more and more women are becoming the bread winners of their families.
I have worked hard with my Democratic Colleagues in Congress and President Obama to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work. In 2009, we passed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to ensure that women could seek justice for pay discrimination. This law lifted one hurdle that women face but Republicans continue to play politics with this issue. We need to continue to strengthen the Equal Pay Act and work to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act. Paying women less than men for the same work is not just immoral, it's bad economics.
