WASHINGTON, DC INTERNSHIP

 

While schedules are very flexible, interns are expected to commit between 3 and 5 days (24-40 hours) per week.

 

Responsibilities:

Internship duties include, but are not limited to constituent relations, office management, community outreach, casework, correspondence writing, memo preparation and conducting research. The office is also prepared to cater to an individual's specific interests by providing special projects, when applicable. Interns will also be given the opportunity to attend events, political gatherings and policy forums when appropriate.

 

Qualifications:
Strong writing skills are needed. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, detail-orientated, creative, friendly, motivated, mature, and possesses the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

WASHINGTON, DC PRESS INTERNSHIP

 

The Washington, D.C. office has open press internship positions available and is accepting applications at this time. While schedules are very flexible, press interns are expected to commit between 3 and 5 days (24-40 hours) per week.

Responsibilities:
Internship duties include, but are not limited to assisting the Communications Director in drafting press releases, proofreading and editing, maintaining press lists, and updating Member’s website and social media. Intern may also assist with answering phones, incoming and outgoing mail, addressing constituent concerns, and assisting the Legislative/District office staff.

Qualifications:
Strong writing skills are needed. Familiarity with new media is a plus. Priority will be given to those with journalism or communications education /experience, but consideration will be given to those with excellent writing skills. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, detail-orientated, creative, friendly, motivated, mature, and possesses the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

NEW YORK CITY, INTERNSHIP

The New York City District Office of Congressman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY-15) -- whose district includes Harlem, East Harlem, Washington Heights, the Upper West Side, and Inwood -- is looking for driven and committed college and graduate students who have an interest in public service.

Responsibilities:

Constituent relations, office management, community outreach, casework, correspondence writing, memo preparation and conducting research.

The office will also work with an individual's specific interests to develop a project related to a community issue. Interns will be given the opportunity to attend community events, political gatherings and policy forums when appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity for any student to learn more about politics – from the local to the federal level, government operations, and Congressional matters. It is ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of everyday people.
