Washington, Feb 21 -

For consistently voting to support equal protection and opportunity for women, Congressman Smith has received a 100% approval rating from the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The perfect score is based on Congressman Smith’s voting record on issues of equality for women in education, economic security, and civil rights. In the 112th Congress, Smith voted for increased safety for students on college campuses and against cuts to funding directed toward sex discrimination, pay discrimination, and pregnancy discrimination.  He also received praise from the AAUW for his commitment to protecting Title X funding to ensure that millions of low income women have continued access to cancer screenings, preventive care, and reproductive health care.

“I am honored to receive a 100% rating from AAUW for my voting record on critical civil, economic, and educational rights issues” said Congressman Adam Smith.  “It is vital that we continue to advance the principles of equality to ensure that all women have equal access and opportunity to education, health care, and economic security.”

The American Association of University Women has operated for 130 years with the mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.  A nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 500 college/university institution partners, the AAUW releases their congressional report card twice every legislative session.
