Schakowsky, Evanston Mayor Kick Off Erie Health Center PDF Print

On August 8, 2012, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky joined Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl; the CEO of Erie Family Health Center, Dr. Lee Francis; and the President of NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Evanston Hospital, J.P. Gallagher to kick off the creation of a new Evanston federally qualified health center at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center. 

The Evanston Erie Health Center will be created with the help of a $650,000 annual grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  The health center is expected to open its doors on October 22, 2012 at the Morton Civic Center. Other dignitaries at the kick-off included: Village of Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen; State Representative Daniel Biss; the CEO of NorthShore University HealthSystem, Mark Neaman; District 202 Superintendent Eric Whitherspoon; and Greg Bales of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin’s office; along with Evanston Aldermen Jane Grover, Delores Holmes, Melissa Wynne, Peter Braithwaite and Mark Tendam.
