WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) released the following statement today following Senate approval of the FY2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill:

“I am glad Congress has at last completed work on legislation to fund the federal government in Fiscal Year 2009.  In enacting the Omnibus Appropriations Act, we have carried out our responsibility to direct federal agencies in spending taxpayer dollars.

“I am not pleased with the process that has brought us here today and I sincerely hope we are never again asked to legislate in such a manner.  Appropriations bills should be considered individually and in a timely manner.  I look forward to working with Chairman Inouye to ensure that the FY2010 bills are enacted in regular order and before the end of the current fiscal year.”
