Dear Friends:

This handbook is designed to provide a compilation of informational resources available to all Washington students interested in obtaining scholarships at our colleges and universities.  This material has been gathered for the purpose of providing up-to-date information on how to apply, where to apply and what criteria will be required to obtain a scholarship.  Please note that the scholarships listed are being offered in 2012 and that funding for some of these scholarships may change from year to year.  Applicants should visit the college or university website to see if the criteria or funding for any of these scholarships has changed for the next academic year.

I was the first member of my family to graduate from college with the help of federal Pell Grants and I believe that every other American should also have the opportunity to further their education upon graduation from high school.  Since taking office I have worked to make college affordable for students.  I have initiated this handbook to assist you with information that may be helpful in your goal to pursue a scholarship by knowing how to apply for the many opportunities available to you.

I trust that you will find this publication a valuable resource in your search to further your educational ambitions and career objectives.  Should you have any questions or concerns not addressed in this booklet, please don’t hesitate to contact me or my staff if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
