Woolsey Will Recognize Winners of Congressional Art Competition

the CA 6th District - Congressional Art Competition

Over 25 students from Marin County entered their artwork for consideration in the Congressional High School Art Competition – “An Artistic Discovery.”

The winners are:

First Place: Nina Basker, 12th grade Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo, “Dylan”

Second Place: Angela Whitney, 10th grade, Tomales High School, “The Me that Sees Me”

Third Place: Hifumi Nakamura, 12th grade, Terra Linda High School, “A Self Portrait”
Chelsea Campodonico, 11th grade, Branson School in Ross, “Nuts and Bolts”

Nina Basker, will receive a trip to Washington D.C. for the official opening of the Congressional High School Art Exhibit on June 24th and her artwork will receive a professional framing from The Ragged Sailor Framery in Larkspur. Her work will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

“This is one of my favorite events of the year. I am so lucky to be able to showcase the artistic talent of high school students from California’s 6th District,” said Rep. Lynn Woolsey.

The Congressional Art Competition is held across the country with winners chosen in every congressional district.
