“Martin Luther King, Jr. knew there was always more to do,” said Rep. Woolsey. “Dr. King spoke of our responsibility to ‘break the silence’ when our government errs; warned us against the catastrophic results of militarism, and urged us to work for global peace and justice.”

“This country has come a long way since the 1960s. As we celebrate the life of Dr. King let us remember that we still have a long march to make on the road to freedom and justice. Let us follow in Dr. King’s footsteps and resist the numbing politics of fear. We will be non-violent, but we shall not be passive in our pursuit of peace.”
