Washington, D.C. - Rep. Lynn Woolsey has the following statement regarding Democratic Whip Nancy Pelosi’s (D-San Francisco) historic victory as Democratic Leader:

“Nancy Pelosi is the best thing to happen to the Democratic party in years. Her intelligence, style and political acumen will energize Democrats around the country so we can win back the House. Nancy is an experienced legislator and a highly effective organizer and coalition builder who can articulate Democrat values. She will work with Republicans in order to pass sound and fair legislation, but will hold her ground when compromise would not benefit the American people. She is a dynamic personality who will lead the Democratic party to majority.”
