Woolsey Secures $700,000 for Local Health Care Projects

Washington, DC¬—Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.) today secured House approval of $700,000 for two local health care projects.

The Petaluma Health Center will receive $500,000 to renovate a facility that will expand the center’s capacity to provide vital health care services to the county's underserved population.

Another $200,000 will finance the federal share of a $5.5 million research project to investigate the high and increasing rate of breast cancer in Marin County. Marin County has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in California and the United States.

The funding was part of the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill. That bill must now be reconciled with a Senate version.

“Providing vital health care services to the area’s underserved and investigating why Marin County has such a high rate of breast cancer are urgent projects and I am pleased that the House has approved funding for them,” said Woolsey.
