Washington, DC - Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) today reacted to the Supreme Court’s 5-4 vote upholding a ban on late term abortions:

“Today’s partisan decision by the Supreme Court is a frightening and dangerous step towards criminalizing the very constitutional freedoms that previous courts have upheld for generations.  This ban provides no exceptions, even when needed to save the health and life of the mother, and flies in the face of medical science.  Furthermore today’s decision violates the separation of our legislative and judicial branches by accepting the Congress’ intervention into legal matters, setting an unacceptable precedent upon which the freedoms ensuring our democracy are now threatened.”
