Washington, DC – A Co-Founder of the Out of Iraq Caucus, and the Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Representative Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) today issued the following statement ahead of the vote on a proposed $165 billion funding package for the occupation of Iraq.

“Today’s vote to send the President yet another blank check, one with no meaningful attempt to rein in his failed policy, is a profound disappointment to the millions of Americans who put Democrats into power hoping we could force a change in Iraq.  Sooner or later this Congress must realize that bringing our troops home to their families isn’t just the right thing to do, but when faced with an unwinnable quagmire in Iraq and an economic crisis here at home, it’s our only choice.”
