Rep. Woolsey "Brings" Walter Cronkite (Video) to Talk With Local Seniors About Rx Drugs

New Plan Passed by GOP is Bad Deal for Seniors, Medicare

Santa Rosa, CA – Representative Lynn Woolsey (D-Petaluma) will talk with local seniors this Friday, March 19th to discuss the prescription drug program that was recently passed by Congress. The GOP-controlled Congress passed a complicated plan and has left many seniors with questions and concerns about how the bill will affect them. The bill has raised concerns regarding provisions that will privatize Medicare, force seniors to leave trusted doctors and hospitals, leave a huge gap in coverage, fail to lower drug prices, and provide no guaranteed benefit or premium.

At the town hall discussion, Representative Woolsey will also present a video featuring former news anchor Walter Cronkite in which he discusses the Republican law. The video was produced by the Families USA, which is a non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on providing high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

Rep. Woolsey voted against the Republican sponsored Medicare scheme and led 84 of her colleagues in resigning their AARP memberships, or promising to never become members in protest of the organization’s recent decision to support Medicare legislation that will undermine the future of the program. Rep. Woolsey continues to fight for a prescription drug benefit for Seniors that is voluntary, guaranteed, available to all and provided as part of the Medicare program.
