Housing & Economic Development Forums

Representative Mica held his first Economic Development Summit in December 1992, at the Daytona Beach International Airport shortly after he was first elected to Congress.  At this session, Mica and local leaders focused on defense conversion, industrial and tourism expansion and the development of international airport services.

In the years since, the Congressman has held additional Economic Development Forums across the 7th Congressional District, focusing on housing and transportation improvements, strengthening the defense industry and enhancing international trade opportunities for small businesses.

Recently on July 14, 2003, Rep. Mica convened the first ever Tri-County Housing and Economic Development Summit with officials from Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns Counties, as well as State and federal housing agency representatives.

Additional meetings have been held since, and work continues to proceed on improving low income and affordable housing opportunities.  Rep. Mica is also working with the St. Johns County Commission and members of the Community Redevelopment Area to improve the quality of life and economic opportunities in West  Augustine.
