Congressional Art Contest

 

Each year, Congressman Mica sponsors an art contest that is open to all high school students in the 7th Congressional District.
This contest provides students with a forum to display their works and also helps to promote artistic discovery and art programs in area schools.  Due to the size of the 7th District, Rep. Mica hosts two contests for the northern and southern area high schools.
 
This years contests were held in Longwood and St. Augustine.  The winners for 2010 are Jesse Hammer of Ponte Vedra Beach and Shelby Elmore of Ormond Beach.  The winners were flown to Washington DC to join in the Capitol celebrations for the opening of the art exhibit, where their artwork is displayed at the U.S. Capitol for thousands to enjoy.
 
Students interested in this contest should be sure that they understand all the guidelines for submitting their work for consideration.
