Van Hollen Statement on CBO Report on Economic Impact of Fiscal Cliff

Nov 8, 2012 Issues: Economy, Sequester, Taxes

Washington, DCToday Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) on the Economic Impact of the Fiscal Cliff:

Today’s CBO report underscores the need to prevent the so-called fiscal cliff from harming American families and businesses, and to instead enact a balanced, long-term deficit reduction plan. Every bipartisan group that has examined this issue has made clear that we must take a balanced approach that includes cuts to spending and cuts to tax breaks for millionaires and special interests that we can no longer afford.  The President and Democrats stand ready to work with Republicans – the question facing the GOP is if they will listen to the American people and come to the table ready to compromise.”
