Berkley Statement In Support of Ambassador Susan Rice

(November 29, 2012 -- Washington, D.C.)  Congresswoman Shelley Berkley today released the following statement in support of U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice:

“Ambassador Susan Rice has been a key part of President Obama's foreign policy team and she would be an outstanding choice should her name be put forward as a nominee for Secretary of State.

“As our Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice has always been accessible whenever I sought her opinion or to offer my point of view on foreign policy issues.

"I also watched first hand her leadership in the UN during successful efforts to prevent the biased Goldstone Report from being used to unfairly punish Israel or to undermine support for a two-state peace solution with the Palestinians.

“Ambassador Rice has real world experience with high-level diplomacy and her actions have won the confidence of the President, key U.S. allies and Members of the Senate and House.

“The continued attacks being launched daily by Republican Members of the Senate against Ambassador Rice are inappropriate, highly partisan and politically motivated.

“Throughout her career, Ambassador Rice has demonstrated leadership and a deep understanding of the global issues that affect America’s foreign policy and I reject those critics who are seeking to undermine her reputation.

“Ambassador Rice would have my full confidence as a nominee for Secretary of State and she would be the right choice at a time when our nation continues to face an array of global challenges that demand someone with her experience, intelligence and proven ability.”
