Mack Supports American Taxpayer Bill of Rights

Saying the American people deserve a government that taxes less, spends less and regulates less, Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) today expressed his strong support for the American Taxpayer Bill of Rights, which was recently unveiled by the conservative Republican Study Committee.

The American Taxpayer Bill of Rights states:

1. Taxpayers have a right to have a federal government that does not grow beyond their ability to pay for it.

2. Taxpayers have a right to receive back each dollar that they entrust to the government for their retirement.

3. Taxpayers have a right to expect the government to balance the budget without having their taxes raised.

4. Taxpayers have a right to a simple, fair tax code that they can understand.

Mack said:

“I have said time and again that our country’s economic future depends on the decisions we make today. Our children and grandchildren deserve a future free of excessive taxation and runaway deficits.

“We don’t have a revenue problem in Washington, we have a spending problem. We can provide the key services people need, but at a price we can afford.

“Taxpayers deserve a tax system that is simple and fair. With the current tax code over 17,000 pages long, it is no wonder that over 60% of Americans pay someone else to do their taxes for them.

“The Taxpayer Bill of Rights is our pledge to work to balance the budget, cut wasteful Washington spending and provide further, permanent tax relief for Americans. America’s long-term freedom, security and prosperity depends on nothing less.”
