JCOC 2013 Nominations have closed
Nominations for participation in next year's JCOC program are no longer being accepted.
JCOC participants are nominated into the program by JCOC alumni and Senior Defense Officials. Service (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard) nominations have been vetted through the Service public affairs offices at the Headquarters level. All nominations are now being reviewed for eligibility and all eligible nominations will be vetted by a senior selection panel in January, 2013. Selection announcements are expected in early March.
Out of hundreds of nominees, only 100 participants are selected each year to take part in the conference.

2012 JCOC Programs
JCOC 83 was conducted from April 22 to 27 and gave 37 participants a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn more about today's military by visiting our servicemembers where they work. The week-long trip started and ended in Washington, D.C. and included visits to Hurlburt Field, Fla., Coast Guard Sector Miami, Fla., Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Fort Bragg, N.C., and Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. The next JCOC experience, JCOC 84, took place July 22 to 28. A group of 38 civilian leaders visited with, and learned from, some of our most impressive military men and women. JCOC 84 started at the Pentagon and then travelled to Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., U.S.S. Makin Island (LHD-8) homeported in San Diego, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and Camp Pendleton, Calif., Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and Coast Guard Sector Seattle, Wash. JCOC OVERVIEW
The Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC) is a program sponsored by the Secretary of Defense for civilian public opinion leaders interested in growing their knowledge of the military and national defense issues. JCOC is the oldest existing DoD outreach program having been held more than 81 times since its inception in 1948.
JCOC alumni are encouraged to share their experiences with their circles of influence when they return home.
It is DoD policy that fostering and furthering good relations with communities at home and abroad is in the best interest of the Department of Defense. A principal goal is to increase understanding of the mission of the Department of Defense and the U.S. defense posture and capabilities by increasing public exposure to, and understanding of, military personnel, facilities, equipment, and programs.
