Woodbridge

Woodbridge Mayor John E. McCormac's Message

Welcome to Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey; a town steeped in history.

Woodbridge Township was settled in autumn of 1664, making it the oldest original township in the state of New Jersey and one of the oldest in the country. We are just under 100,000 residents making Woodbridge the 5th largest municipality in the State.

Don’t be fooled by our long ancestry and tremendous size however, Woodbridge is very much a close-knit neighborhood firmly planted in the 21st century. Since 1971, Woodbridge Metropark has provided high speed train service from Boston to Washington, making it a center of activity. The township is also home to Woodbridge Center, one of the largest shopping malls in the East.

In this bustling city, it is nice to know we have maintained a small town quality of life. Great schools, friendly people, and a clean environment define Woodbridge. As a life-long Woodbridge resident, it is easy to see why people never want to leave.

I welcome you to visit my hometown. Make sure to visit the Barron Arts Center, a cultural hub listed in the National Historic Registry. Also be sure to stop by our crown jewel - the Woodbridge Community Center - featuring an ice rink, roller rink, track, gymnasium, pool, miniature golf course and wellness center. Explore the shops, see the sights, and enjoy meeting the people who make me proud to live in Woodbridge.
