What Is the GOP’s Number One Priority?

In a recent interview with the National Journal, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) clearly revealed that instead of creating jobs for the middle class, the number one priority for Congressional Republicans is getting rid of one job:

The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

His comments are not surprising. Congressional Republicans have made it clear from the beginning that their success will hinge on President Obama’s failure. While Democrats are focused on rebuilding our economy and creating jobs and helping middle-class and their families, the GOP’s top priority is to get rid of one job.

House Democrats put the middle class first — cutting taxes for 98 percent of Americans, boosting small businesses, creating good-paying jobs, and revitalizing American manufacturing with our Make It In America agenda. Siding with the corporate special interests that are funding their agenda, Congressional Republicans are pledging to ship good-paying American jobs overseas, hand Social Security over to Wall Street, and turn Medicare over to the insurance companies.
