WASHINGTON- Congressman Buck McKeon (R-CA) , Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the Armed Services Committee issued the following statement in response to the adoption of Senator Diane Feinstein's (D-CA) amendment to the the National Defense Authorization Act:

"This evening, the Senate adopted language offered by Senator Feinstein and others addressing the disposition of Americans who commit acts of terror on US soil. This spring, a bi-partisan majority in the House passed robust and exhaustively-considered language designed to hold American's civil liberties paramount; mindful of the fact that al Qaeda and their allies would like nothing more than to deprive us of our life and liberty. We remain committed to that position and look forward to conference negotiations on the matter."
