  1. I was honored to have the opportunity today to present medals to Vietnam veteran Ivan Peña of Gallup and thank him for his service to our country.
  2. I’m looking forward to a great day in the Gallup area today. We started the day with the Eastern Navajo Agency inauguration for newly elected chapter officials, and later today I’ll be presenting medals to Army veteran Ivan Pena, who earned them with his brave service in Vietnam.

  3. I was honored today to be named a Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus. I look forward to this new opportunity to assist in House Democrats’ efforts to promote an agenda that creates jobs and opportunities for the American people. This new post will also ensure that the voices of New Mexicans will be part of the discussion as the House moves forward on the critical issues facing our country.
  4. Again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Arrangements have been made for Dad. 5. On behalf of my mom Carmen, sister Jackie and her husband Marvin, sister Shirley, brother Jerome and his wife Johnell, myself, and the rest of our family, thank you to everyone who has shared their condolences and thoughts about my Dad, Ben Luján. Dad loved New Mexico and its people so much. Please continue to keep him and our family in your prayers.
  6. The shooting in Connecticut is a terrible tragedy and my thoughts and prayers are with the children, their families, and the entire community.
  7. I was honored today to be named to the Energy and Commerce Committee for the next Congress. With jurisdiction over a number of issues that impact the daily lives of working families, my position on this committee will enable me to continue my efforts to grow our economy and provide greater opportunities for hard-working New Mexicans.
  8. I sent a letter today to Congressional leaders highlighting the important role our national labs play in providing cutting-edge research and innovation. It is important that we find a solution to the sequester that supports the labs so the...y continue to serve as an engine for America's competitiveness. I will also co-chair the new, bipartisan House Science and National Labs Caucus to raise awareness of the labs' work and amplify our advocacy efforts.See More
  9. While discussions continue on how to avoid the fiscal cliff, Democrats are urging House Republicans to allow the House to vote on extending middle-class tax cuts for families and small businesses. Click “like” if you think Republicans should do the right thing and allow a vote to protect the middle class from higher taxes while the fiscal cliff negotiations continue.
