    I had the honor today to tape a short message to our troops to see during the holidays. As we enjoy this time of year with our families, let's also make sure to remember the sacrifices of our brave men and women plus their families who won't be together during this holiday season. Thank you to all who have or continue to serve.

    On the Central Coast, we understand the role tourism plays in our local economy. Bringing overseas tourists to our country needs to be a big part of our national economy.     I can honestly say I have never been interviewed by a talking can before. On my way back from the Capitol, I met this young man, Cason Romano. He helped launch a "can-paign" to encourage Congress to reach a deal on the debt rather than continue to kick the can down the road. "The Can Kicks Back" is a group of young Americans who wants us to reach a bipartisan deal now, rather than push it off onto their generation.

    I hope everyone had a wonderful Veterans Day weekend. I got the chance to spend a little time with some great Americans, the Central Coast Veterans Cemetery Foundation, at their Heroes' Open golf tournament to raise money for the proposed cemetery at the former Fort Ord.
