SENATE APPROVES $292,200 FOR LACROSSE HOUSING PROJECT, KOHL ANNOUNCES

WASHINGTON, DC - Today the US Senate approved Senator Herb Kohl's request to direct $292,200 to Riverfront Inc. which provides individuals with disabilities vocational and independent living training. This was included in the FY10 Omnibus Appropriations Bill. Senator Kohl, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, identified this project as a priority for funding.

"Individuals with disabilities deserve new opportunities and the ability to grow and succeed," Kohl said. "This funding provides them with vocational and independent living training to improve their quality of life."

Riverfront Inc. is a non-profit organization which provides vocational and independent living training for individuals with disabilities. Riverfront operates three work centers which provide full mailing services for local businesses and government. The funds would be used to construct a new facility in order to expand the business and increase the number of job opportunities for people with disabilities.

The funding measure was passed by the Senate, and now goes to the President for final approval.
