SENATE APPROVES $392,200 TO DEVELOP THE 30TH STREET CORRIDOR, KOHL ANNOUNCES

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the US Senate approved the FY10 Omnibus Appropriations Bill which included funding for the continuing redevelopment of the 30th Street Corridor in Milwaukee. Senator Kohl, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, identified this project as a priority for funding.

"This funding will give the Redevelopment Authority of Milwaukee the resources it needs to continue to rebuild the area around the 30th Street Corridor and change it from a place of abandoned buildings to family housing," Kohl said.

The Redevelopment Authority of Milwaukee is continuing to develop the 30th Street Corridor in the city. The City of Milwaukee has targeted this corridor for redevelopment of blighted properties and abandoned buildings. The funds will be used to acquire and start the redevelopment of the Esser Paint sites. The property will be transformed into multi-family housing with green space adjacent to the property.

The funding measure was passed by the Senate, and now goes to the President for final approval.
