KOHL TARGETS $1 MILLION IN FEDERAL HELP TO JANESVILLE AREA WORKERS FOR JOB TRAINING

WASHINGTON DC - U.S. Senator Herb Kohl today included $1 million in the FY10 Omnibus Appropriations Bill for Blackhawk Technical College to help Janesville area dislocated and incumbent workers with job training.

"With many people finding themselves jobless, job training is necessary in order to teach new skills and get people employed and back on their feet," Kohl said.

This federal funding will provide tuition and books so that dislocated and incumbent workers in the Janesville area can train for new careers. With the GM plant closing causing additional layoffs at other companies, this funding will help Blackhawk Technical College meet the demand for job training.

The funding measure was passed by the Senate, and now goes to the President for final approval.
