"I am very pleased with Assistant Attorney General Varney's decision to withdraw the Justice Department's 2008 Monopolization Report.   This Report was out of the mainstream of antitrust law and raised substantial obstacles to effective antitrust enforcement against monopolies and dominant firms.   If the Report had remained in place, consumers would have had little recourse against abusive conduct by monopolies.   I believe this action demonstrates that the Justice Department under Ms. Varney's leadership will be committed to aggressive antitrust enforcement to the benefit of competition and consumers."
