Education

As a teacher and professor for 23 years, I understand that education is the key to achieving personal goals.  I demonstrate the importance of education by donating a portion of my salary every year to scholarships for students attending colleges and universities in the Sixth District.  Federal spending in elementary and secondary education comes with many strings attached.  The fact is that increased federal spending and involvement in education has coincided with declines in the achievement of American students compared to many other countries.

I support policies that will reduce federal interference and empower parents, families, teachers and administrators in our local schools who are most committed to providing children with support and encouragement to get a good education.
