Back home in their districts this month, Republican lawmakers are being forced to explain their support of tax cuts for Big Oil, companies that ship jobs overseas, and the wealthiest Americans while ignoring job creation and voting to end Medicare.

Could it be that some Republicans are actually changing their position? Will they have to get Grover Norquist’s permission? Time will only tell:

GOP Rep. Randy Hultgren: “But pushed on the issue, [GOP Rep. Hultgren] offered something of an opening. He said he was willing to ‘look at’ ending subsidies to oil companies and closing tax loopholes.”

GOP Chairman Fred Upton: “Two hundred people, some chanting, confronted Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) at a town hall in Kalamazoo this week. That prompted Upton, who will serve on the new congressional committee, to say he is open to closing tax loopholes, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette.”

GOP Rep. Jeff Fortenberry: “Fortenberry later told USA TODAY that he doesn’t want to see taxes raised on small businesses and entrepreneurs. But he said Buffett is right that loopholes in the tax code ‘skew in favor of the ultra-wealthy, ultra-wealthy corporations, and the overseas aristocracy.’”
