July 13, 2006

His Excellency Ronen Sen
Ambassador of the Republic of India
2107 Massachusetts Avenue,  N.W.,
Washington D.C., USA - 20008

Dear Ambassador Sen,

As Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, I want to express my disgust and horror at the series of train bombings that devastated Mumbai, India yesterday, killing nearly two hundred people and injuring many more. I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families.

Many Indo-Americans with enduring ties to India reside in my congressional district, and I also convey my sympathy to them and Indians around the world, as they attempt to contact friends and family in India.

This atrocious display of terrorism must only strengthen the resolve of freedom loving countries around the globe to cooperate in eradicating the scourge of terrorism and encouraging the peaceful resolution of disputes.

I truly admire the Indian people for their resolve and courage. Despite these crimes, they persevere and continue living their lives. Your bravery during this time offsets all terrorist attempts to undermine India’s remarkable achievements. I greatly admire you and all Indians for your determination in the face of these inexcusable and despicable acts.

Sincerely Yours,

Michael M. Honda
MEMBER of CONGRESS
