Honda Lauds Principles of Constituents Lobbying Against Iraq War PDF Print E-mail

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA) issued the following statement on constituents lobbying his Campbell, CA district office against the war in Iraq:

“My greatest satisfaction as a Member of Congress is to hear from my constituents and to substantively address their needs, hopes and concerns. A group of dedicated citizens has been visiting my district office over the past few weeks voicing its opposition to America’s involvement in Iraq, and calling for an end to our country’s war there. To these principled people, I can merely say: ‘Amen’.

“I have been – continue to be and will always remain – a staunch opponent of President Bush’s Middle East folly, an adventure that has further destabilized an already precarious region, taken the lives of more than 3,000 brave American troops, and diverted hundreds of billions of scant dollars from  vital domestic priorities. I thank my constituents for exercising their democratic right to petition their representatives, admire their principle, and pledge that I will not rest until our shared goals are realized.”
