San Jose, CA – On Friday, September 16th, Rep. Michael Honda (CA-15) will join with Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Eric K. Shinseki and Rep Anna Eshoo to break ground at the new Defenders Lodge, a facility for veterans at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS).

The new Defenders Lodge will have 53 beds in a two-story, 28,000 square-foot building that offers free lodging for veterans receiving care at VA Palo Alto.  Guests will have increased security, safety and access.  The lodge replaces a temporary structure built after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989.
