  1. Tonight I joined my neighbors in Salem and people around the country in a moment of silence for those families suffering in Newtown, Connecticut. Like you, I remain shocked, saddened and recommitted to common sense gun control reform that will keep our children safe.

Representative Tierney, Like many Americans I am still extremely emotional and horrified about the events that took place in Newtown Connecticut yesterday. This is more fuel to the fire for those advocating for stronger gun control laws. I am in favor of gun control laws and I would like it to be harder for individuals to obtain firearms. I would also like stronger background checks so these things don't get into the hands of total fruitcakes. We should also find a way to build stronger communities so people will feel loved and secured. I believe through grassroots efforts, we can cut back on this.

as my rep I am asking you to vote for stronger gun laws. if you truly care for the people you represent you will protect them. if you truly morn those who passed you will honor them by preventing this from happening again. I am asking everyone on my Facebook page to email , write and petition you. Sarah gibbs

    • Enough! Work as hard as you can to defeat the NRA and bring sanity to the gun laws of our country. How many children must die before we as a nation take action?

Dear Congressman Tierney, I was laid off in April 2012 from a major law firm in Worcester where I had worked for 26 years. My emergency unemployment compensation will be cut off at the end of December, along with tens of thousands of other unemployed persons. My husband collects social security. Our mortgage company informed us today that it will begin foreclosure proceedings in two weeks. I urge you, please do not let the unemployment extensions expire. Restore the benefit period to 99 weeks and add help for the rest of the unemployed. Please don't allow cuts to food stamps, housing subsidies or jobs and training programs. Thank you Lois Wade, Shrewsbury, MA

  3. The news coming out of Connecticut today is heart wrenching. My deepest sympathies go to the families and friends of those killed. This kind of tragedy leaves us all searching for answers. I join Americans around the country in keeping those impacted by today’s events in our hearts and prayers.
  4. Today, I join many of my colleagues in urging House Republicans to allow a vote on extending tax cuts for middle class families and small businesses. Click “like” if you believe Republican Leadership should do the right thing and protect the middle class while fiscal cliff negotiations continue.
  5. Pleased to keynote today's Day of Action rally at Faneuil Hall. We must find a solution to the "Fiscal Cliff" and it cannot be on the backs of middle-class families.

  7. As many of you have noted, we are facing tough economic decisions in the weeks ahead. Please know that I am working to ensure that we find a balanced approach, one that raises revenues, protects critical investments, and makes responsible cuts to spending. As part of this process, I am committed to extending tax cuts for all Americans on the first $250,000 they earn and believe we should let the additional tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires expire. Please continue to let me know your thoughts and concerns in the coming days.
  8. Thanks to all who watched the hearing last week concerning the rising rates of autism. Like you, I agree there is a critical need for more research into the causes of autism. Be assured I will continue to press the witnesses who testified at the hearing to provide Congress and the public with the information they pledged to look into. I remain committed to keeping this issue a top priority for Congress and the Administration.
  9. Important points raised in today’s The Sun News editorial. In Congress, I’ve authored legislation – the Workforce Investment Act of 2012 – that ensures workers get the skills and training they need to compete for jobs in manufacturing and other growing industries in Massachusetts.
  10. Tomorrow marks the 19th annual World AIDS Day. I join many across the country and world to pause and recommit to our efforts to find a cure. Now is not the time to cut back on our investments in preventing, testing, and treating HIV and AIDS, and I urge my colleagues to continue to support those fighting against this disease and those helping the men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
  11. Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
  12. It was an honor to volunteer this week alongside dedicated local residents who are committed to helping others during this holiday season. 13. Today, I had the opportunity to tour Cell Signaling Technology (CST) Inc. in Danvers – a company working on breakthrough science for cancer research. CST has grown from a staff of 7 employees to 470 and is an example of how support and funding for research and development expands business opportunity and grows jobs locally.
