Rep. McCarthy Participates in the Long Island Women’s Agenda Breakfast
Rep. McCarthy pictured with (L to R) Assemblywoman Ginny Fields, Nassau County Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs, Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper and Melissa Connolly, recently participated in the Long Island Women's Agenda breakfast at Hofstra University. The Congresswoman highlighted several issues affecting Long Island, including improvements to the No Child Left Behind Act, school safety methods and health care concerns. As Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Healthy Families and Communities, Rep. McCarthy will have an opportunity to address the issues raised at the breakfast in Congress.
Rep. McCarthy Visits Stewart Manor Blue Ribbon School
Earlier this month, Rep. McCarthy visited the Stewart Manor School. The school, which serves grades K-6, was recently named a "Blue Ribbon School" by the U.S. Department of Education. Rep. McCarthy presented the school with a copy of the Congressional Record recognizing their outstanding achievements.
Carolyn McCarthy Secures Franklin Square Soldier’s Military Signing Bonus
Congresswoman McCarthy recently secured Pvt. 2nd Class Brian Buith's enlistment signing bonus. Upon enlisting in the Army in 2005, Pvt. 2nd Class Buith was entitled to a $20,000 enlistment bonus which was never delivered. Congresswoman McCarthy worked with the Army and Pvt. 2nd Class Buith's bonus was granted in December. Pvt. 2nd Class Buith is currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq.

Carolyn McCarthy Presents $163,865 Grant to Rockville Centre Fire Department
Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy presents a check for $163,865 to (from left to right) Chief Mark Murray, Chief Michael Lapkowski, and Chief Peter Grandazza of the Rockville Centre Fire Department. Rockville Centre was awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Fire Department used these funds towards the purchase of new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Carolyn McCarthy Presents $1.6 Million Grant to New Hyde Park
