Following his new appointment to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Brian went on a week-long Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to the Middle East which included visits in Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Spain.

Upon his return, Brian shared some of his recent experiences with the Buffalo News saying, "My focus on Buffalo remains very intense.  It's my primary focus, and it always will be. But additionally, we make decisions in Congress that influence America's place in the world, so I think it's important to have that perspective and have that voice…

"These trips are clearly transformational," Higgins said. "You see part of the world alien to most of us; you see the great influence America can have on these places in a positive way."

He then dove into how his new position with the Committee on Foreign Affairs has great importance to international trade and currency issues that deeply impact manufacturing in Buffalo.
