Small Business

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and as Congress seeks to enhance an environment that will foster job growth, we must recognize small business and entrepreneurism as the driver behind economic stability.  This not only includes creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to build businesses and owners to grow their current companies, but also ensuring our tax structure is favorable to continued investment.

I have introduced the Small Business Fairness Act in a bipartisan, bicameral effort to effectively improve government contracts.  The Small Business Fairness Act would build on regional teaming arrangement, allowing business to pool resources to compete for larger government procurement contracts and still keep their minority and disadvantaged contract status.

In this economic downturn, I will redouble my effort to advocate and promote small business. I believe it is the small businesses and entrepreneurship in our communities that will create the jobs that will pull our economy out of recession.
