USCIS and Congress
Go to the USCIS website to find information on laws, regulations and interpretations of law controlling immigration and the work of the USCIS. You can also find a copy of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The USCIS automated information line is available 24 hours a day. The number is: 1-800-767-1833. If you have an emergency, or can’t get the help you need from these resources, I might be able to help.

Can Congressman Polis assist me in obtaining information about my immigration application?
Yes. Jorge Loweree in my Boulder office handles immigration casework and is happy to discuss your situation and, if appropriate, communicate with USCIS regarding your application.
I have a friend/relative who would like to visit the U.S. Can Congressman Polis help with this process?
Yes. Most foreign nationals must get a Visitor Visa before entering the U.S. by applying at a consulate or embassy abroad. Congressional offices often writes to foreign posts with information about an applicant that may be helpful in getting approval. PLEASE NOTE: A letter from a Member of Congress is not a guarantee of visa issuance. The most common reason for denial is an applicant's failure to overcome the assumption that he or she will remain in the U.S. Regrettably, a congressional office cannot help expedite an application through security clearance.
How do I become a U.S. Citizen?
Visit the USCIS website for information about how to become a U.S. Citizen. Also, you can download a "Guide to Naturalization" to help answer your questions.
If you prefer, you can call 1-800-870-3676 and request form N-400, the Naturalization application, or download it from the USCIS website.
I recently filed for Naturalization or a Green Card with the USCIS. How long will that take?
